Our bookshop features adult fiction and non-fiction, a selection of young adult (14+) titles and giftable merchandise.
Applicants should be enthusiastic about books, comfortable engaging with customers and able to recommend titles based on knowledge of our inventory.
Applicants must be computer-savvy, motivated to work independently as well as part of our team, including jumping in and assisting other departments as needed during busy times (example, clearing tables).
Please note - this job requires going up and down stairs multiple times per day.

This is a daytime position, with start times beginning anywhere from 8am to 11am, depending on the day.
Shifts will normally end by 5pm, sometimes 6pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Job Responsibilities ? Greet and interact with customers and make book/merchandise recommendations ? Effectively learn the bookshop point-of-sale system for sales transactions, stock checks, special orders and webstore sales ? Full knowledge of book genres and Flyleaf's book and merchandise inventory ? Maintain up-to-date industry knowledge, including current titles, trends and news ? Receive and shelve inventory, process damages and pull special orders ? Answer and field phone calls and retrieve voicemails ? Maintain store appearance, including tidying shelves and other routine housekeeping (sanitizing tables, bathroom checks, straightening chairs, etc.
) ? Write staff picks book reviews ? Assist bistro staff with overflow needs during busy times, including taking orders and making espresso drinks (training provided) ? Familiarity of all food and beverage offerings Requirements ? Previous bookseller, retail or customer service experience preferred ? Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written ? Basic math and computer skills (keyboarding, MS Office) and the ability to learn and navigate the book-centric point-of-sale and inventory system ? Able to endure prolonged standing and repetitive bending and lifting.
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds without assistance ? Some weekend availability required ? Booksellers must wear a uniform shirt To Apply:

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
